The Anatomy and Morphology Cushion Species Tasmanian
A study of the anatomy and morphology of four Tasmanian cushion plant showed that anatomical convergence was not as well developed as the obviolls morphological convergence. The of well-developed xeromorphic features in the Tasmanian species is not consistent with the hypothesis previollsly suggesrcd that the cilshion fonn evolved plimarily as a strategy to maintain a positive water balance.
متن کاملBiology and occurrence of Inga Busk species (Lepidoptera: Oecophoridae) on Cerrado host plants.
We sampled Inga Busk species caterpillars weekly in the cerrado on 15 plants of Diospyros burchellii Hern. (Ebenaceae) from January 2002 to December 2003, on 30 plants of Caryocar brasiliense (Caryocaraceae) from July 2003 to June 2004, and since 1991 on several other plant species. In total we found 15 species of Inga on cerrado host plants. Nine species were very rare, with only one to five a...
متن کاملA new species of flightless, jumping, alpine moth of the genus Thyrocopa from Hawaii (Lepidoptera: Xyloryctidae: Xyloryctinae)
A new species of brachypterous, flightless, jumping alpine Thyrocopa moth, T. kikaelekea, is described from Hawaii Island. This new species is similar to T. apatela (Walsingham), another flightless species from Maui Island. Thyrocopa kikaelekea is hypothesized not to be the sister taxon to T. apatela, instead representing an independent loss of flight.
